Fantastic Beasts & Where to Find Them by Newt Scamander is an example of a textbook someone would find at Hogwarts. It gives a history of magical creatures in the Harry Potter universe, as well as notes from Harry and his friends. Along with the history, it also gives specific information about the creatures within the magical world. Along with the information, it tells the reader how dangerous the creature is. Not to mention, information about Newt Scamander himself.
I am a personal fan of the Harry Potter series and I think this book is a great extension of it. It tells you about certain beasts never even mentioned in the original series, which becomes quite interesting. Plus, the personal notes from Harry, Ron, and Hermione truly immerses people in the fantasy. The touches like naming the author Newt Scamander and a letter from Dumbledore at the beginning of the book adds to that personal touch as well. The cover is very pretty, and seems like a true book from the Hogwarts Library. If I had to rate this book from 5 stars (best) to1 star (terrible), I would rate it 4 stars! It is very interesting if you enjoy fantasy, the Harry Potter franchise, or magical animals.
