I recently reread The Hunger Games after seeing the new trailer for Songbirds and Snakes which comes out in November. I totally forgot how much I loved this book, its characters, plot, setting, everything is written beautifully. Suzanne Collins did a wonderful job creating this series and I believe it’s a must read for everyone. I found that the parallels between our world and her book were especially interesting, such as the exploitation of children, the gap between rich and poor, the corruption in government, and the effects of violence/brutality. This book is a YA dystopian novel which was published in 2008 and made into a movie in 2012. And I know all book lovers make this argument, but the book is so much better than the movie. There’s so many more details included in the books that’s left out in the movies. Don’t get me wrong, the movie is incredible with Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson playing Katniss and Peeta. Overall, I’d rate this book 9.5/10 because I think it’s one of the best dystopian fictions out there and I think the novel has the potential to become a classic.
